Swim buoy or swim bubble?
Swimming buoys are seen more and more often. The reason is simple. The swimming buoy or swim bubble can save your life if things don't go as they are supposed to when you swim in open water. Many of us know swimming buoys from Baywatch in the first place. The function of today's buoys are basically the same - it helps you to keep you at the water surface.
"As triathlon coaches and athletes, we no longer go into the water without a buoy!"
The swimming buoy is brightly colored that boats and your family can see you easily.
Visibility: When we go swimming in Lake Constance or in the sea, motorboats are often on the way. Since most of your body is below the water surface, it is relatively difficult to make out for the boats. It gets particularly tricky in bad weather conditions or when it has small waves. Many triathletes or open water swimmers are wearing wetsuits. Since most wetsuits are mostly black, you are almost completely in camouflage mode. So it doesn't really matter whether you are doing your swimming session in the rain or it's nice bathing weather. It is also important that you can make yourself known from a greater distance, for example by waving with your buoy. Next time you go to the lake or sea, just take a look how long a swimmer can be seen really well ...
More safety and therefore no more fear when swimming in the lake
Safety: It doesn't matter whether you are just getting used to open water swimming or whether you are an experienced swimmer. Things don't always go the way they are supposed to. Having done lots of triathlon competitions and several miles of training in open water, we call ourselves very good or safe swimmers. We have been out there without swim buoy and swim bubble in recent years until I had an experience that I do not want to experience again without a swim buoy. We were swimming in the lake and were about 400 meters away from the shore. Without warning, my calf started to cramp an awesome training session turned into an experience that I will never forget. Like many triathletes, we have a queasy feeling during open water training. Especially after my experience. We still have respect when we go swimming with the buoy, but the queasy feeling is gone! If something goes wrong, I can hold onto the buoy and it keeps me afloat. An investment we in a good feeling that we would do again and again because it can save your life or that of your partner.

Why do we think the Swim Buoy is the best swimming buoy for your training on the market?
Just take your luggage with you
The swim buoy has a separate luggage compartment and an envelope closure, with which your things can stay dry. Your smartphone and electronic devices are additionally protected against water in the special protective cover.
The best valve
The buoy with the best valve for open water swimming. You don’t lose air when you close it, because you can keep the valve in your mouth when you close it. No air can escape. Easy to inflate even in water. Other buoys have a cumbersome twist lock here
Larger buoy for heavier swimmers
There is a larger buoy with 20 L air bubble especially for heavier swimmers and triathletes. With the additional 5 L you get even more buoyancy. New Wave recommends the use of the larger buoy from a weight of approx. 86 KG.
How to use a swim buoy
The buoy is the perfect companion for your training. Small and light, you can easily transport them. We usually go to the beach with a t-shirt and a short.
The clothes and a light towel can easily be stowed in the luggage compartment of the swimming buoy. There is a separate case for your smartphone or your electronic car key, which offers additional security against water.
You can either inflate the buoy immediately or close the luggage compartment first by wrapping the end several times and fixing it with the click fastener.
With the practical rotary valve, the buoy or buoy can simply be inflated with the mouth. Because the valve of the float has a rotary valve, the buoy can also be subsequently inflated in the water if necessary.
The Swim Bubble is a floating body that is attached to the waist of the swimmer with a belt. So you drag your air bubble behind you. The buoy does not interfere with the leg flap.
Release air after swimming by opening the valve and gently squeezing the air out. It is important that the pressure is not too high so as not to damage the buoy and the valve.
Now you can simply take out your clothes or your light towel, rinse the buoy out if necessary and fold it up.
..and look forward to the next swimming session with a good feeling and a safe companion who will keep you up when needed.
